Okay, here’s my blog post about remaking the PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag:

So, I really wanted this PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s a classic, right? But the price tag… ouch. So I thought, “Hey, why not try making it myself?” I’m not a pro or anything, but I’m pretty handy with a needle and thread, you know?

First, I spent hours just looking at pictures of the bag online. I found them on the PRADA official online store. It looked simple at first, but it was actually quite complicated. I tried to find as many detailed photos as I could, especially of the inside and the hardware, those little buckles and stuff. I even went to the mall to check out a real one in person. Sneaky, I know, but it really helped me get a feel for the size and the materials.

Then came the hard part – finding the materials. I wanted it to look as close to the original as possible, so I needed that Saffiano leather. Let me tell you, that stuff is not easy to find, at least not the good quality stuff. I checked out a bunch of online stores and some local shops. I didn’t even know there were so many different kinds of leather! Finally, I found something pretty decent. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it was close enough.

  • The first thing I did was make a pattern.
  • I used some old cardboard to cut out the different pieces of the bag.
  • This took a while because I wanted to make sure everything was the right size and shape.
  • I made a few mistakes along the way, but eventually, I got it right.

Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking! I didn’t want to mess it up because, well, it wasn’t cheap. I measured everything like ten times before making a single cut. Sewing it all together was a real challenge. My little sewing machine had a hard time with the thick leather, but I managed. There were a few wonky seams, but hey, it’s handmade, right?

Finding the hardware was another adventure.

Those little PRADA logos and buckles are so specific. I searched everywhere online. I ended up ordering some replicas from an online shop. They weren’t perfect, but they did the trick. Putting it all together was like assembling a puzzle. A really, really difficult puzzle.

It took me a few weeks, working on it whenever I had free time. And you know what? It wasn’t perfect. There were definitely some flaws. The stitching wasn’t as neat as the original, and the leather was a bit different. But I made it! I actually made a bag that looked somewhat like the PRADA Galleria. I was so proud of myself!

I even carried it around a few times. People actually asked me if it was a real PRADA! I’m not going to lie, that felt pretty good. It is a sense of accomplishment for me. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. And I learned so much about bag making. Who knows, maybe I’ll start making my own designs next time! This is my own handmade version of the bag. I think it is pretty good for a beginner.
