Okay, here’s my detailed share about remaking the PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag.

So, I’ve been obsessed with Prada bags forever, especially the Galleria Saffiano. I saw this special edition online, and it was like, love at first sight. But, the price tag? Not so much. That’s when I thought, “Why not try to make my own?” I mean, how hard could it be, right?

Getting Started

First things first, I needed to find some good materials. I hit up every store, trying to find something that looked like Saffiano leather. It wasn’t easy, I tell ya. Eventually, I found a few options that were kinda close, but not perfect. I also needed some other stuff like buckles and a zipper, which were also hard to find with just the right look.

  • Found some “Saffiano-like” leather after visiting many stores.
  • Sourced buckles and a zipper that matched the style.
  • Started gathering other necessary tools and materials.

The Real Work

The next part was the actual making of the bag. I started by cutting the leather-like material into the right shapes. I didn’t really have a pattern, just used my eyes, and tried to copy the photos from the website. It was a lot of trial and error, cutting, trying to put together, and a whole lot of messing up, to be honest. But slowly, it started to look a little bit like a bag.

  • Cut the faux leather into the necessary pieces.
  • Assembled the pieces together, trying to follow the online images.
  • Started sewing the parts together with the sewing machine.

Sewing and Assembling

Sewing was definitely the hardest part. I have a sewing machine, but I’m no expert. Stitching those pieces together neatly was a real pain. Some parts were thicker than others, and it was tough to get the stitches straight. After a few failed attempts and a lot of frustration, I finally got the hang of it. Once the main body was done, I added the handles and the strap, which was another whole challenge in itself.

  • Encountered difficulties sewing the thicker parts.
  • Managed to get the stitching right after multiple attempts.
  • Attached the handles and strap to the main body.

Finishing Touches

The last step was adding the little details, like the logo and some small pockets on the inside. I managed to find a metal piece that looked kinda like the Prada logo, and I just stuck it on. For the inside, I just used some regular fabric and sewed in a few pockets. It wasn’t as fancy as the real thing, but it worked.

  • Added a look-alike logo to the front.
  • Sewed some simple pockets inside for functionality.
  • Tried to search the eBay for some materials and was surprised that there were many cheap choices.

The Result

Finally, after a lot of work and a few headaches, my homemade Prada Galleria was done! It’s not exactly like the real thing, but I’m pretty proud of it. It looks decent, and it’s actually quite sturdy. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and it’s holding up pretty well. Plus, I get to brag that I made it myself! If you are seeking for the new collection of Prada, I strongly suggest you to take a look at their official website where lists out a variety of styles like Shoulder Bags, Mini Bags, Bucket, Handbags, Totes and Backpacks, etc. I just love the leather designs the most!

So, that’s my story of remaking a Prada bag. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday, but for now, I’m just happy to have my unique, kinda-Prada bag.
